Robin Blair’s book, "Musings Along the Way," is a short memoir which recounts her 400 mile, 32 day solo pilgrimage along the ancient Camino de Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. That walk was undertaken upon Robin’s 65th birthday, following her retirement and the death of her mother. Each chapter retells one single day’s experience on the Camino, and as the walk progresses the reader is introduced to her colourful fellow pilgrims, and shares with the pilgrims the wildly diverse sights, weather and terrain that were encountered. The delights and miseries of the walk are retold in detail, as are the insights gained “along the way.” Underlying it all is Robin’s illusive search for The Big Spirit, a transformative mystical event. Her pilgrimage is retold with humour and not a little courage. The reader will feel like a pilgrim at her side.
