A Dream of a Way. A wish to be allowed to film at the Pilgrims Office in St. Jean-Pied du Port

Cher Madames et Monsieurs

I undersigned is a director and producer of the film A Dream of a Way which is about an old and highly esteemed Icelandic writer, Mr. Thor VIlhjalmsson who has dreamt of it for more than 40 years to walk the Pilgrims Way to St James. Now he is going to make that dream come true before it becomes too late, he will be 80 years old this summer. We are going to make a film about the fullfillment of this dream and have already shot the scenes we need from Iceland and France and now we will complete the shooting by filming the walking of the Camino from St. Jean du Pied du Port to Santiago and further on to Finisterre. We will arrive to St. Jean next monday and stay stay there to the 5th of May. On that day the pilgrimage will start.

We would very much like to be able to film in the Pilgrims Office in St. Jean and when we were making our researchtrip thereto on our shooting expedition in France last autumn we visited the office and were very well received but we were adviced to contact you to obtain the formal permission to film there.

I want to say sorry for how late I contact you but I sincerely hope in spite of taht that you will be able to grant us such permission. We have already obtained such permissions to film in Churches and Monasteries along the whole Camino. It would be a pleasure for me to give you a copy af our film when finished as a gesture of gratitute. Our wish is to be able to film at the Office on the 4th of May at a time the staff would choose as an appropriate one.

I attach a letter I wrote to the church authorities in Santiago which gives you a better overview of our project. All our wishes regarding filming in the Cathedral in Santiago and at the Pilgrim’s Office there have been have been accepted.
