  WILSON Alastair - Santiago on two feet.

  This is the lively daily journal of my 500 mile and 32 consecutive days journey from St Jean Pied de Port in South West France, entering Spain on day one over the Pyrenees, as I headed due west to Santiago de Compostela on my two feet.I was blown away by the fantastic colourful countryside that was ever changing the further west into the journey I explored. Lively cities, panoramic mountain ranges, the challenging Meseta tableland and many towns and villages all conspired to provide special moments of reflection and enjoyment.The Way provides an opportunity to meet people from various backgrounds and the locals, that sometimes went to extraordinary lengths, were just as important as the pilgrims from around the world in ensuring that my pilgrimage was both special and unforgettable.I had my 32 day walking fully supported by pre-booked Bed and Breakfast accommodation for the full journey which provided the necessary comfort of private facilities each night. The only downside of pre-booked accommodation was that it removed the option to reduce a walking day distance and as a result ensured I had to complete each day as planned which, on several days, proved to be quite a challenge !An overall wonderful experience in glorious weather and was achieved blister free !
